2003 National Individual Pool Championship

Nigel Wilby (Longford Social Club, Cannock, Staffs) is the 2003 Individual Pool Champion he defeated Steve Gilbert (Pant Social Club, Newbridge, Gwent) by four frames to two in the final at the Wotton Hall Club, Gloucester on Saturday, November 22 2003.

Wilby received £1000 as winner and Gilbert £600 as runner-up.

On a day that England defeated the Gold of Australia in the Rugby World Cup. Nigel sporting the Gold of Wolverhampton Wanderers broke and soon took control of the first frame and won it in less than 5 minutes. The next two frames went with the player breaking both taking 9 mins to conclude for Wilby to lead 2 - 1, the 4th frame was really the decider a much more cat & mouse frame won by Wilby in 8 mins against the break. The 5th frame was also tight with Gilbert winning this against the break in 10 mins. Wilby wrapped up the championship in an 8 minute 6th frame.

Mark Mills (Gloucester) refereed the match. The Union representatives were Ken Wainwright (West Yorkshire) and Pete Carr (Recreation Secretary).
John Say represented John Smith’s sponsors of the Indoor Games.

2003 National Individual Darts Championship
The combined semi –final and final will take place on Saturday December 13 2003 at the Arnold W M Club, Nottingham.
The competitors are
M Thomson (Rodbourne Cheney W M, Wilts), R Phillips (Rodbourne Cheney W M, Wilts), P Nixon (Ferryhill W M, Durham), R Brown (Ferryhill W M, Durham).

2003 National Dominoes 5’s & 3’s Pairs Championship
This Championship has now reached the Final stage and will be arranged for Saturday 14 February 2003.
The Semi Final results were as follows:
T Cox & P Evason (Wotton Bassett High St Club, Wiltshire) lost to R Burton & A Kepner (Sileby & District Liberal W M Club, Leicestershire) by 3 legs to 0 (121 – 97), 121 – 94) and (121 – 112)
at Northampton W M Club on Saturday November 15, 2003.

R Priestly & K Brewer (Tuxford W M Club, Nottinghamshire) lost to S Smith & C Stainsby (Darlington Club, Durham) the current holders 3 legs to 0 (121 – 88), (121 – 107) and (121 – 101)
at York Clarence Club, York on Saturday November 29, 2003

2003 National Cribbage Pairs Championship
This Championship has now reached the Final stage and will be arranged for Saturday 31 January 2004 at a venue to be decided.
The Quarterfinal results were as follows:

2003 National Dominoes Straight Championship
This Championship has now reached the Final stage and will be arranged for Saturday 17 January 2004.
