New European legislation will almost certainly reduce the level of moise at which employers have to take action to protect employees' hearing.

As far as clubs go this could relate to music generated by groups and the problems that bar staff may experience. By the end of 2005, the deadline for implementing the EU Noise Directive, employers will have to ensure that hearing protectors are provided and worn when exposure reaches 85 decibels.
