Make them stay in the afternoon
A total of 1,98 delegates turned up for the morning
session at Blackpool and 924 for the afternoon session.
This in itself is a very poor show as almost all clbus
would have paid for their delegates to be present at Blackpool.
The motions were debated in the afternoon and that is another reason
why everyone should have come back into the auditorium.
There is another interesting aspect of non-attendance
at the Union's Annual Meeting, however. We sent credentials to 1,659
from 674 clubs, yet only 1,398 attended. Where were the other 261
who never even came to the morning session? They had their credentials
but made no attempt to come into the conference.
All clubs who send delegates to Blackpool should ask
them for a report on the way the conference went and the votes etc.,
prior to it appearing in the Club Journal. This way they would have
to give a report of what happened and could not rely on reading
it in the Journal before reporting it to their club committee.
