Recreation update

The Union organises the largest and most varied programme of sports and recreation
in Great Britain.

Branch contests cater for anything from cribbage to cage birds and dominoes to dahlias.

There are more than 2,000 trophies valued at more than half a million pounds being competed for both nationally and at branch level.

To take part a clubman must be at least 18, and a member of the club he represents. They must also hold a Union Associate and Pass Card issued by that club.

National and Area championships are administered by the Recreation Department at Head Office and are open to all clubmen who meet the above conditions as follows:

NATIONAL INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIP

These contests are held annually and once again in 2003 these are sponsored by John Smith’s.

They are: Team Darts, Team Snooker, Team Pool, Individual snooker, Individual Billiards, Individual Darts, Individual Pool, Dominoes 5’s & 3’s Pairs, Cribbage Pairs and Dominoes Straight Pairs.

Posters and entry forms for all of these contests are sent to all clubs.

ANGLING

National, Northern and Midland/Southern Angling contests and the South Wales & Monmouthshire Sea Angling contests are held annually. The National contest is fished on the third Saturday in July and entry forms are sent to all clubs who entered the National and Area contests in the previous three years. Entry forms for the area contests are sent to all clubs in that area.

GOLF

The National Individual Golf Championship is a closed contest with entry being restricted to Branch champions.

Full details of all contests are regularly published in Club Journal.

You can also find details and results of contests on this website wmciu.org. by clicking on National Games.

In the following pages you can hopefully find all the information you require regarding the recreation programme within the CIU. News, Rules, Entry Forms, Results, Forthcoming Finals, Pictures and Records.

Entry forms are in Adobe PDF format, you will need to download the software to view and print them. It is free and can be downloaded by clicking on the button below
