A Happy New Year

Clubs wil recall that the Government got itself into difficulty in the last two years when the permitted hours were amended so late that it proved very difficult for clubs and pubs to take full advantage on New Year's Eve.

A Parliamentary Order now allows pubs and clubs on a permanent basis to apply from 2003 onwards for the opportunity to open for 36 hours non-stop from 11am on New Year's Eve to 11pm on New Year's Day should they wish.

Early notification may well permit clubs to plan their entertainment in advance and inform members accordingly.
